야구 (yagu) stands for baseball in Korean. 
As we have footy in Australia or cricket in India, the summertime sport of the Republic is undoubtedly baseball. There is something beyond the sport itself that makes it such an iconic activity to be part of.

It is a family activity with no real age limit - not sure about height, really.

What exactly is there about baseball? 
Perhaps the sense of community and oneness, rooting for one team together. 
It could also be the chicken and beer.

Cheers are in unison, each baseball member's introduction invites us all a chance to sing and dance.
The cheerleaders are perhaps the key player in guiding everybody -- the lead usually a (very, very energetic) man, with his posse of barbie-like dancing girls. They lead, and the audience follow with due enthusiasm.
Did we give in to the jersey? We did. We gave in to the jersey. 
I got myself a player name iron-on, a cap, a fan, a shirt....
And have completed my journey to be a lifelong LG Twins fan.

Sadly, I don't hear it quite often despite my numerous visits to Jamsil Stadium, 
but my merchandise beg me to stay.
