This is Hisanohama, towards the south of Fukushima. As with many other areas of Fukushima, Hisanohama was also badly destroyed by the Tsunami of 2011.
It has since then been reconstructed, with brand new roads, as well as precautionary measures like tetrapods by the sea.

An annual 餅つき (mochitsuki) event is held at Kirara every year since its establishment, run by volunteers from several companies, all with the pure intention to serve the residents and brighten up the atmosphere.

Must be a good performance

It's a heartwarming weekend, and not to forget lots of fun too.
If you do ever visit Hisanohama, come down to Hamakaze Kirara and grab a bite before you go.

About mochitsuki -- we have an area cooking the rice, an area to pound the rice to mochi, and another area where we transform them to mochi soup (お雑煮 ozoni) , as well as savoury and sweet mochi.
